Dear Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to cordially invite you to the 2022 MHRC Symposium at SIMS.
Metabolic Disease Tissue Homeostasis Research Center (MHRC) is one of the Leading Research Centers (RLRC) sponsored by National Research Foundation of Korea. The main objectives of our center are to investigate pathoetiology of obesity-induced inflammation and its implication to the development of Type 2 Diabetes, and thereby to develop a novel therapeutic strategy for the treatments of Type 2 Diabetes. Our center is affiliated with Soonchunhyang Institute of Medi-bio Institute (SIMS) that is a leading research institute for the metabolism research in Korea.
Since MHRC was established in 2019, our center has hosted the annual symposiums on metabolism research areas. We envision that our symposiums help to develop metabolism research in Korea by sharing the latest research progresses in the field, and also by serving as a central hub for the networking among international and Korean researchers.
This year, we have decided to host an online/offline hybrid symposium to further fulfill our visions. We are very fortunate to invite the prominent speakers from around the world for this symposium. The keynote speaker is Dr. Steven Shoelson from Joslin Diabetes Center and Harvard Medical School. Other renowned speakers from the areas of brown fat, cell organelle, stem cells and beta cells, and inflammation research will also give in-person live lectures at the symposium. A full list of the speakers can be found here. Furthermore, we also organized special sessions for the young trainees including students (Young Investigator Session and Poster Presentation Session). Thus, we hope that our symposium will maximize face-to-face opportunities for international networking among established and young scientists altogether. Consequently, the theme of this year’s symposium is appropriately named as “Facing Metabolism Research”.
We are very proud of hosting this exciting symposium. We also sincerely hope that the MHRC symposium can continue to foster the development of young scientists, to share new discoveries in science, and to establish international networking, thereby enriching the metabolism research in Korea.
I am looking forward to seeing you all in our symposium.
Best Regards
